About Our Chapter

Our Mission

The Alzheimer's Association-Eastern North Carolina Chapter is dedicated to providing education, support and services to patients, their families, health care professionals and the general public while raising awareness and funding for research for a cause(s), treatment, prevention and cure for Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.

What We Do

The Eastern North Carolina Chapter provides family support, community education, public awareness and supports research for the prevention, cure and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. The Chapter serves 51 of North Carolina's counties (from the Triangle to the coast). Over 140,000 people in North Carolina are affected by Alzheimer's and these numbers are expected to quadruple by the year 2025.

The Chapter provides assistance with information, educational programs and services to patients, their families, health care professionals and the general public. Through support groups, Helpline and networking with other nonprofits and local, state and federal agencies, additional information and care is provided.

Our History

The Eastern North Carolina Chapter was founded at Duke University in 1980, relocated to Raleigh in 1985 through a generous grant from the Kate B. Reynolds Health Care Trust and moved to its current location at 400 Oberlin Road, Raleigh in 1989. In 1992, additional office space was acquired for a Family Resource Center which includes general information, family assistance materials and our lending library of books and videos.
